Rea's Hotlanta Trip - pt 1

Rea has been literally counting down for this trip for 8 weeks. As you may know, she is a HUGE Michael Jackson fan. And she has asked a few times to see him in concert... since that will never happen, I am always on the lookout for ways to make her dreams come true. Isn't that what Mommies do best?

I found out that Cirque du Soleil was doing a Michael Jackson show that they call "The Immortal Tour". It's a touring show right now, but I expect that it will probably plunk down permanently in a major city (Vegas is Shane's guess) after it makes its way around the world. Anyway, the closest that it came to us was Atlanta, GA. I discussed this with my Mom and briefly with Shane. Mom and I knew we could make a big trip out of it for the kiddos and give Rea an amazing experience all at the same time.

As I said in my previous entry, Ri has been oddly sick. So we took him to the pediatrician to get cleared for flying. Then all we had to do was pack. Oh yeah, and Rea was lucky enough to get her cast off 3 days before our trip to GA! Woo hoo!

She said it felt strange to have the cast off, and she was really nervous.
So with that taken care of, we packed, we went to bed early, and we woke up early. When we got to the airport, Dad realized that he left his gate opener at the house... so he had to get creative in order for us to drive to the hangar.

Eventually, we all made it in. The kids did their usual preflight routine with Grandpa... they help him pull the plane out of the hangar. And then we were off!

Ready for takeoff... the airplane makes Ri go limp-noodle... usually he sleeps the entire flight. This trip was no exception.

One of the many in-flight snacks that we packed.

The in-flight entertainment included coloring...

And even an in-flight movie!

Ri woke up about 15 minutes before we touched the ground.

I really wanted to see the inside of the Bat Hangar! Any guesses as to its content?
