Happy Birthday to My Sweet Girl

Rea turned 5 this past December. We decided to blow off the traditional birthday party. Instead, we invited a handful of friends to join us for a day trip to Disney!

But as you may know, my mom's birthday is the day before Rea's. And since we weren't going to be home for Rea's day, we combined and celebrated at home the night before. With Grimaldi's pizza and cake. Yum.

We are so ghetto... this was the "5". Jac, Steph and I were laughing at all the usage these candles are going to get this year: Steph turns 23, I turn 32, Shane will use the 3 and Jack will use the 2 later.

The beautiful birthday girls

Even though he can't eat it, Buddy LOVES to blow out the candles!

Uh-oh. Grandpa's lookin' for some more food...

Buddy says "Don't even think about it!"
Off to bed. Let's go to Disney!!

My crew left in the am, and we all had plans to meet in the Magic Kingdom at 11am by the Main Street Train Station. We were making pretty good time. And through texts and phone calls, I knew where most of our people were on the trip in relation to us. Two of our friends had already made it to Orlando and were inside the MK before we were even to Yeehaw Junction.

We were on World Drive with plenty of time to spare. Or so we thought. Traffic was TERRIBLE! We were stuck in stop-and-go (mostly stop) traffic for 45 minutes. It was insane. When we were about 4 cars away from the MK toll booth we noticed that all of the cars were having intense conversations with the gate keepers. This ticked Shane off. He was so grumpy from being in traffic to begin with... and to have to wait while people have full on conversations was crazy. It's not that complicated, you pay, go through the gate, park, get on a tram and head to the Ticket and Transportation center.

Riley has announced that he needs a diaper change. It's never a good thing when he tells us... it usually means poop, leak or explosion. So yay. Something to look forward to. I call Not It.

Finally it's our turn. Shane has his Annual Pass ready (Annual Passholders do not pay for parking). The toll booth guy says, "I'm sorry folks, the Magic Kingdom is closed. It has reached capacity. You need to go to another park."

We are kind of dumbfounded. This has never happened to us before. And we frequent WDW.

I race to call everyone behind us first. They need to get out of line or avoid it all together. We change our plans and head to Epcot. After I get those friends figured out, we call the 2 families inside the park and explain the situation. One family is so far into the Park they won't be making it out and over to join us. The other was hanging out near the train station and simply left the Park. They travelled by Monorail to Epcot and arrived only minutes after we did.

It was pretty incredible that most of us ended up parked next to each other. We met up and headed into Epcot.

This is actually what Shane looked like too, until we fed him.

It was impossible to get an entire group shot.

Rea's not mad, she's yelling "Nemooooooo!"

For a second I though, "Wow. We got the whole group." Then I realized, when all the kids jumped off the wall, that S and Baby G missed this shot. Oy.

And this one is all the kids (I think) except Ri - who is at this moment attached to my leg crying.

Did any of the other Mommies get good pics?

I got a great shot of the T family, but I have to blur the background first... I know one of the unsuspecting friends in the background would KILL me if I posted it. Hahahaha.

Anyway. Thank you SO SO SO much to the friends who came to celebrate our awesome daughter! And that includes the S family... even though we didn't see you guys, it was still so wonderful that you travelled all that way for Rea. We love you guys!
